Humans espouse for the goal of procreation
And our ideas conform in a similar gestation
But at what point in this social habitation
Did man become catalyst for marital foundation
To me this gender role seems out-dated
And I can’t understand why it’s rarely debated
In an era when women are not confiscated
I must still ask her father to be consummated
My sense of self worth feels confined to a ration
When defined by social customs and not my own passion
And if my love disagrees, with a face pale and ashen
Then she can marry a simp who’s tame and old fashion
I’ll like the Instagram post right after they share it
Before I render trite vows like an obedient parrot
I laugh at those coveting wealth, just to inherit
For the uninhibited woman is more worthy of merit
Now before you accuse me on acts of sedition
I only aim to shine light on our social disposition
Too many feel obliged by vague superstition
Symbolic ideas do not give life definition
It’s natural at times to feel apprehension
But don’t confuse meaning with social convention
Many gals disagree, but I don’t fear reprehension
For I only need one to propose, to get my attention
